Making Tech, Dinner and Dreams in August

Read below to learn about what we at Code Park got up to this August.

Invent to Learn

It’s more than just 1 and 0s at Fab Lab as Code Park’s students get hands on with learning. The beauty of invent to learn is building real objects that demonstrate programming principles. We built data visualizations with colored balls and rainbow LEDs (not at the same time),and learned how to wire together sensors to measure our environment.

Paper Programs at Fab Lab

We worked with Fab Lab Houston to build paper programs, an interactive educational technology installation. Physically experience a Javascript program by holding a piece of paper that allows a computer to automatically detect and execute code, as if through magic. Paper Programs is inspired by the work and research at Dynamicland.

Editorial Team Dinner

Code Park is more than just after school programs. We are a community of lifelong learners dedicated to sharing the secrets of our craft. As part of our outreach efforts, we put together an editorial team to work together to ensure that stories are written, emails are sent, and photos are shared. To kick it all off, we organized our first Code Park team dinner to discuss why we each wanted to give back and our plans for doing so.
